Who’s Chris

My daughter Sammy is my best friend, and my dad is my hero. Losing my dad at 60 and mom at 53 reminds me of the fragility of life and dramatically shapes my sense of time, gives me a profound sense of urgency, and is present in my decision framework. Becoming a dad at 16 saved my life and gave me a sense of purpose.

I’m a strategic advisor at IMS Capital. I help leading nonprofits and successful families build, grow, and protect wealth. I’ve taught over 1,000 college and graduate students at four institutions and am currently teaching at Willamette University. I work hard to fund my half-ass angel investing education (obsession). I have spoken at over 50 conferences and events on topics ranging from generational wealth and entrepreneurship to community building and contributed to over 25 articles.

Through my board service, I advocate relentlessly for and guide several organizations (both for-profit and nonprofit boards). I enjoy nerding out with “builders,” so you will also find me coaching, challenging, and learning from high-integrity start-up founders and business leaders.

I’m struggling to improve my Spanish and need to lose a few pounds. I often say my love language is work, so I desperately need to create better work-life boundaries.

Throughout my career at IMS Capital Management, I have advised high-net-worth families, nonprofits, and institutions, helping them develop sound investment strategies. As the former President of the firm, I was responsible for shaping business strategy, managing risk, and overseeing investment research and portfolio construction. Today, I focus on providing personalized financial guidance that aligns with my clients’ long-term objectives.

When I’m not nerding out on money for leading nonprofits and successful families, speaking to audiences across the Pacific Northwest, or teaching, You will catch me working WITH my community and building bridges for people and organizations.

I travel to places with fantastic street food and dynamic cultures to recover from or sometimes hide from my demanding schedule. I currently have 684 unread text messages, which is a problem.

During football season (no, the other one), I am either in Las Vegas or Seattle, splitting time between our season tickets for the Raiders and Seahawks.

Some of the dopest sporting events I’ve witnessed live include Watching Ichiro Suzuki’s final professional baseball game in Japan and seeing firsthand the saying “offense wins games, defense wins championships” when the Seahawks dismantled one of the greatest offenses in NFL history in Superbowl 48.

I believe financial success is built on trust, knowledge, and well-defined strategy. It’s more than just growing wealth – it’s about creating stability, preserving assets, and building a lasting legacy.

My approach is simple: work with great people, build epic things, and share what I’ve learned. By combining expertise, strategic insights, and a passion for education, I help clients make informed decisions that drive long-term success.
